What I’ve Learned

When I first started this project I had absolutely no idea what was in store for me. I knew that taking a picture a day would be quite an undertaking, but in looking back over the past year I’ve learned alot, both about myself and about photography.

1. I learned that I like taking pictures of food, clothing and nature—it seems like a good portion of my photographs were of one of the three.

2. I have very few pictures of people—Taking pictures of people is something I’d definitely like to do more of, provided that I can find willing participants :)

3. I learned that sometimes the most simple objects can be interesting subjects. Some of my favorite photographs are things like a light-fixture, shop-vac, bottles of nail polish or even a pair of earrings.

4. Its hard to find different things to photograph…and things that you find interesting. This project forced me to take the seemingly ordinary things around me and look at them in a different light—which proved to make for some pretty cool looking photographs.

I’m glad that I did the project, and its been fun to look back at the complete project in its entirety. 2011 was a good year for me and I can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store. Even though I won’t be doing this project for 2012, I can’t say that this is the last time I’ll do the project. :)

Thank you to my family, friends and GU family for being supportive of me throughout the project and for always being so interested in seeing what would appear next on my blog.

With love,
Carly
